In 2004 in collaboration with Panacetacea this whale was identified in the Golfo de Chiriqui. Coiba National Park in the Golfo de Chiriqui is a protected World Heritage Site frequented by over 20 species of marine mammals. AHWC-6266’s migration to the Antarctic was captured in 2007 by Le Sourire off the west coast of Booth Island, Antarctica. Nine years later in 2018, AHWC-6266 was seen by Divine Dolphin near Puntarenas, Costa Rica, as part of a pod with a mother, calf, escort, and challenger. It is unclear whether AHWC-6266 was the mother or one of males. This documented migration of 8,354 kilometers (5,190 miles) is one of the longest documented migrations on record.
