SEAK-5490 @73513

SEAK-5490 suffered a severe, life threatening entanglement October 2023, resulting in a successful disentanglement response -- read about the event: Humpback Whale Freed from Entanglement Near Glacier Bay and Successful Effort to Rescue an Entangled Humpback Whale in Alaska. Two years later, to great excitement and relief, SEAK-5490 has reappeared! Matched by dorsal fin and other scarring by Glacier Bay National Park biologists, we are delighted to share that this whale survived and has returned to the area to feed.
